Bay Deployment Planning

According to area and load capacity of the floor in an equipment room, you can deploy bays of the Dorado18000 V3 storage system in standard mode or distributed mode.

In this document, the Dorado18000 V3 storage system is deployed in controller enclosure-based distributed mode. In this mode, each system bay is equipped with one controller enclosure and the data switch in system bay 1 aggregates active optical cables (AOCs) of all controller enclosures. The cabling and bay deployment of the entire Dorado18000 V3 storage system are performed in the light of system bay 1.

When deploying a bay, note that:

  • Ensure sufficient maintenance space.
    • The space in front of a bay is used for device maintenance and module installation. The width of the maintenance passage in front of the bay cannot be less than 1200 mm.
    • The space behind a bay is used for cable maintenance and can be a little smaller than that in front of a bay. The width of the maintenance passage behind a bay cannot be less than 1000 mm.
    • The distance from the top of a cabinet to the equipment room ceiling must be greater than or equal to 457 mm.
  • Deploy connection cables among all bays under raised floors or in raised cable trays because these cables cannot be exposed.
  • Provide the bay location figure and space specifications between bays.
  • Use the 15 m AOCs provided with the Dorado18000 V3 storage system to connect other system bays to system bay 1. The actual length of the AOC varies with cabling modes, site requirements, and cabling through use. However, all separated bays must be installed on raised floors or non-raised floors within the length of the accompanying cables.

To facilitate cabling, the standard layout is recommended. All cabinets are arranged in a line.
