Modifying the Hot Spare Policy of a Disk Domain

Modifying the Hot Spare Policy of a Disk Domain

This operation enables you to modify the hot spare policy of a disk domain.

Precautions

  • The rules for hot spare space changes are different for disk domains created in V300R002C00 and disk domains created in V300R002C10 or later. For details about the rules for hot spare space changes, see "Planning Disk Domains" or "Creating a Disk Domain."
  • If a storage system is upgraded to V300R002C10 or later, the hot spare space of the disk domains created before the upgrade is calculated in accordance with the rules in the source version. Similarly, the hot spare space of disk domains created after the upgrade is calculated in accordance with the rules in the target version.
    NOTE:

For example, a V300R002C00 storage system has a disk domain configured with a low hot spare policy. After the storage system is upgraded to V300R002C10 and the hot spare policy of the disk domain is changed to High, the hot spare space changes in accordance with the rules in a high hot spare policy in V300R002C00.

Procedure

  1. Choose Provisioning > Disk Domain.
  2. Select the disk domain you want to modify and click Properties.

The Properties of Disk Domain dialog box is displayed.

  3. Click the Hot Spare Policy tab page.
  4. Modify the hot spare policy in the disk domain and click OK.

The Warning dialog box dialog box is displayed.
    NOTE:

The Warning dialog box is displayed only when the level of a hot spare policy is modified from high to low.

  5. Optional: Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation, and click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful.

  6. Click Close.
