Creating a LUN Group

Creating a LUN Group

To allow hosts to use LUNs, you must add LUNs into LUN groups and establish mapping views between the LUN groups and host groups. A LUN group can contain one or more LUNs.

For details about the related specifications, see "Software Specifications" in the product description specific to your product model and version.

Procedure

  1. Choose Provisioning > LUN > LUN Group.
  2. Click Create.

    The Create LUN Group dialog box is displayed.

  3. Set basic properties for the LUN group.

    Table 4-15 describes the related parameters.

    • The name must be unique.
    • The name can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
    • The name must contain 1 to 31 characters.

  4. Select the LUNs or snapshots you want to add to the LUN group.

    1. In the Available LUNs or Available Snapshots area, select one or more LUNs or snapshots based on your service need.
      NOTE:
      • By default, the Show only the LUNs that do not belong to any LUN group checkbox in the bottom left corner of the dialog box is selected to facilitate LUN locating.
      • You can click Create LUN to create LUNs and add them to the LUN group.
      • If a timing snapshot is selected, it will change to a common snapshot after being configured. For details, see the "Follow-up Procedure" of "Creating Timing Snapshots" in the HyperSnap feature guide for block specific to your product model and version.
    2. Click to add the LUNs or snapshots to the Selected LUNs or Selected Snapshots area.

  5. (Optional) Configure a traffic control policy for the LUN group.

    1. Click Configure SmartQoS.

      The Advanced dialog box is displayed.

    2. Click .

      The Traffic Control dialog box is displayed. Select a traffic control policy in the dialog box.

    NOTE:
    • The SmartQoS feature requires a license.
    • If no traffic control policy is available, click Create to create one. For details, see the Creating a Traffic Control Policy section in the SmartQoS Feature Guide.
    • To remove a selected policy, click Remove.

  6. Confirm the creation of the LUN group.

    1. Click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful.

    2. Click Close.
