Configuring Performance Monitoring File Dumping

Configuring Performance Monitoring File Dumping

After performance monitoring file dumping is enabled, the performance monitoring files can be dumped from the storage system to the specified server using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

Prerequisites

  • An FTP account and password, and a server IP address or domain name have been obtained.
  • An SFTP account and password, and a server IP address or domain name have been obtained.
  • The storage system can communicate properly with the FTP server or SFTP server.

Context

For the storage system, a performance monitoring file will be generated if any of the following conditions are met:

  • Performance monitoring is disabled, causing an interruption.
  • Data collection must reach at least 20 MB in size or 15 minutes in time duration.

Procedure

  1. Log in to OceanStor DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Monitor Settings.

  3. Set the related parameters.

    1. In the navigation tree on the Monitor Settings page, select Dump Settings.
    2. Select Enable.
    3. Set Transport Protocol to SFTP or FTP.
      NOTE:

The storage systems support FTP for compatibility concerns. You are advised to use SFTP, however, to ensure data transmission security.

    4. In the Username text box, enter a self-defined user name.
    5. In the Password text box, enter the self-defined password.
    6. In the Server text box, enter the server IP address or domain name.
    7. In the File Save Path text box, enter the file save path.
      NOTE:

A path is set on the FTP software. You can create a folder in this path. The value of File Save Path is the name of the folder. If you want to save the files to the root directory, enter /.

[Example] If the path on the FTP software is G:\ and the name of the created folder is alarm, the parameter is set to alarm.

    8. Optional: Click Test to check whether the parameters are set properly.

  4. Click Save.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation has succeeded.

  5. Click Close.

Follow-up Procedure

You can view and analyze dumped historical performance data using SystemReporter. For details, see SystemReporter user guide of the corresponding version.

NOTE:

Before using SystemReporter to view and analyze performance data, you need to install SystemReporter. For details, see SystemReporter user guide of the corresponding version. If you do not have SystemReporter, you can contact Huawei technical support engineers to help analyze the performance statistics.
