Registering a Device

Registering a Device

To use SystemReporter, you need to register first. Only registered devices can be monitored.

  • SystemReporter allows a maximum of eight storage devices to be registered. Deregister the storage devices whose performance does not need to be monitored.
  • Before registration, ensure that the server where SystemReporter is installed communicates with all the management ports of the storage array normally. Otherwise, performance data may be lost.
  • During registration, SystemReporter obtains the latest 24-hour performance data from the storage system. Make sure that the time in both the pertaining system and server are consistent. If they are not, modify their times to ensure consistency. Time inconsistencies may result in the failure to log in to SystemReporter, query performance data, or obtain complete historical performance data.
  • Only the super administrator or administrators can register devices.

  1. Go to the registration dialog box.

    1. On the top navigation bar of the SystemReporter user interface, click System.
    2. In the left navigation tree, choose System Configuration > Registration and Configuration.
    3. In the right function pane, click Register Device.

The Register Device dialog box is displayed.

  2. Register a device.

    1. Set basic information about the device. Table 3-2 describes the parameters.

      User Key

Private key file used in SSH-based login. Click Browse to add a private key file.

Password of a private key file.

    2. Click OK.

The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the device is successfully registered.

    3. Click OK.

Follow-up Procedure

Once a device has been successfully registered, you can view it on the device list. You can also deregister a device or modify registration information. The related parameters are described Table 3-3.
