Monitoring Indicators

This section describes the different components' monitoring items related to an OLAP application.

Table 2-2 lists the components monitored when an OLAP application is running.

Average CPU usage (%)

CPU utility within a specified period (5 seconds by default). This item indicates how busy a CPU is.

An alarm is triggered when CPU utility reaches 90%. An alarm is cleared when the CPU usage drops to 70%.

Front-end port

Bandwidth (MB/s)

Average bandwidth of a front-end port within a specified period.

Alarms are triggered and cleared based on port types.

  • Fibre Channel port: An alarm is triggered when the bandwidth reaches 650 MB/s, and is cleared when the bandwidth drops to 500 MB/s.
  • 10GE port: An alarm is triggered when the bandwidth reaches 600 MB/s, and is cleared when the bandwidth drops to 500 MB/s.

Disk

Bandwidth (MB/s)

Average bandwidth of a disk within a specified period.

SSD: An alarm is triggered when the bandwidth reaches 80 MB/s. An alarm is cleared when the bandwidth drops to 60 MB/s.

Usage (%)

Disk utility within a specified period (5 seconds by default). This item indicates how busy a disk is.

An alarm is triggered when disk usage reaches 90%, and is cleared when the disk usage drops to 70%.

Back-end port

Bandwidth (MB/s)

Average bandwidth of a back-end SAS port within a specified period.

An alarm is triggered when the bandwidth reaches 1200 MB/s, and is cleared when the bandwidth drops to 1000 MB/s.
