Splitting a SmartMigration Pair

Splitting a SmartMigration Pair

A target LUN stores a point-in-time data duplicate of the source LUN only after the pair is split. The data duplicate can be used to recover the primary LUN in the event that the source LUN is damaged. In addition, the data duplicate is accessible in scenarios such as application testing and data analysis.

  • At least one SmartMigration pair has been created.
  • SmartMigration is under normal status.

After splitting, write requests sent by production hosts to the source LUN are not sent to the target LUN.

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Provisioning > Resource Performance Tuning > SmartMigration.
  3. Select the pair that you want to split and click Split on the menu bar.

You can also right-click the pair that you want to split and choose Split from the shortcut menu.

  4. In the security alert dialog box that is displayed, click OK.
  5. Confirm the splitting and click OK. The splitting is complete.
