Modifying the Properties of a SmartMigration Task (Applicable to V300R002C20 and Later)

Modifying the Properties of a SmartMigration Task (Applicable to V300R002C20 and Later)

This operation enables you to modify the split mode and migration speed of a SmartMigration task.

Prerequisites

When the running status of a SmartMigration task is Queuing, Migrating, or Fault, Split Mode and Migration Speed can be modified. When the running status of a SmartMigration task is Normal, only Migration Speed can be modified.

Procedure

  1. Choose Provisioning > Resource Performance Tuning > SmartMigration.
  2. Choose a SmartMigration whose properties you want to view and modify, and click Properties.

The SmartMigration Task Properties dialog box is displayed.

  3. Modify the properties of a SmartMigration task.

    1. Change the split mode of the SmartMigration task.
      • Automatically Split

After data synchronization, the system automatically performs splitting. Then, the migration is complete.

      • Manually Split

After data synchronization, perform splitting manually. Then, the migration is complete.

    2. Modify the data migration speed for the SmartMigration task.
      1. Change Migration Speed under Default Time.
        • Low

Migration takes a long time. The low speed is applicable when the system service load is heavy.

The migration speed ranges from 0 MB/s to 5 MB/s.

        • Medium

Migration takes a relatively short period. The medium speed is applicable when the system service load is relatively heavy.

          For Dorado3000 V3, the speed rages from 5 MB/s to 10 MB/s. For other models, the speed ranges from 10 MB/s to 20 MB/s.

        • High

Migration takes a short period. The high speed is applicable when the system service load is relatively light.

          For Dorado3000 V3, the speed ranges from 10 MB/s to 20 MB/s. For Dorado5000 V3 (SAS), the speed ranges from 20 MB/s to 35 MB/s. For Dorado5000 V3 (NVMe), Dorado6000 V3, and Dorado18000 V3, the speed ranges from 50 MB/s to 70 MB/s.

        • Highest

Migration takes the shortest period. The highest speed is applicable when the system service load is the lightest.

If no host is delivering I/Os, the migration speed is higher than 100 MB/s. If any hosts are delivering I/Os, the maximum migration speed is about 80 MB/s. (For Dorado3000 V3, the speed ranges from 10 MB/s to 20 MB/s).

        NOTE:
        • The speed is affected by the LUN read and write performance and the link bandwidth.
        • A high migration speed imposes greater impact on the host service performance. Performing synchronization at the Highest speed may cause overloaded services and interruption of SmartMigration during synchronization. You are advised to use the highest speed when no service is running on hosts.
      2. Optional: If Specified Time is enabled, Date, Start Time, and Duration when data is migrated, as well as Duration Speed within the specified duration can be modified. If Specified Time is not enabled, you can enable Specified Time and set Date, Start Time, Duration, and Migration Speed.
        NOTE:

Details about how to set Migration Speed within the specified duration is the same as that within the default duration.

  4. Click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation was successful.

  5. Click Close.
