Parts Replacement List and Policies

This section describes the parts replacement list and policies of FusionStorage OBS.

During replacement of faulty hardware parts, observe the following principles:
  • When replacing parts of a storage node, perform operations by referring to this document, and recover services by referring to related alarms.
  • When replacing switches and other parts, remove and install the devices by referring to manuals delivered with the devices and recover services.
  • New disks must be obtained from Huawei or agents authorized by Huawei.

Table 1-1 lists the replaceable components and replacement policies of FusionStorage OBS.

Service disk module

Supports hot swap.

The allowed maximum number of faulty service disks is related to redundancy ratio settings.

Replace a faulty service disk in a timely manner to prevent data loss.

System disk module

Supports hot swap.

RAID 1 has been configured using two system disks. Replacing one system disk has no impact on system running.

When one system disk is faulty, replace it in a timely manner.

Front disk backplane

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

2 x 3.5-inch rear disk assembly

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

4 x 2.5-inch rear disk assembly

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

12 x 3.5-inch rear disk backplane

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

NVMe SSD

Supports orderly hot swap.

SSD card

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Power supply unit (PSU), also called power module

Supports hot swap.

Two PSUs are configured by default. Replacing one PSU has no impact on system running.

When one PSU is faulty, replace it in a timely manner.

Fan module

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Internal cable

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Mounting ear plate

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

CPU

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

DIMM

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Battery

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

RAID controller card

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Riser card

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

PCIe card on a riser card

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Mainboard

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

Flexible network interface card (NIC)

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

GE/10GE/25GE switch

Entire device

Needs to be powered off before replacement.

When switches are stacked, replacing one switch will not affect service running.
