Checking the Internal Environment of a Cabinet

Checking the Internal Environment of a Cabinet

This section introduces standards of checking a cabinet's internal environment. Checking the internal environment of a cabinet helps the maintenance personnel know the cabinet environment and adjust the environment in a timely manner to ensure that the device works in a good environment, and no device fault occurs due to environment problems.

Recommended Tools and Materials

You need to prepare the tools and materials for checking the cabinet's internal environment, such as electroprobe and multimeter.

Reference Standards

The check items include internal cabinet power supply and service cable labeling. Table 3-6 lists specific check items.

Reference Standard

Power supply system

  • Check whether the PDU of each cabinet works correctly.
  • Check the appearance and connection of the input terminal block, power cable plug, and socket of each device in the cabinet and determine whether corrosion, over current, or overheating exists.
  • All cables are firmly connected and in good conditions.
  • All devices are free of deformation and long-time overheating.
  • Reference voltage values are as follows:
    • When the standard input AC voltage is 110 V, the measured voltage ranges from 100 V to 127 V.
    • When the standard input AC voltage is 220 V, the measured voltage ranges from 200 V to 240 V.

Cable system

Check whether power cables, ground cables, and signal cables in the cabinet are correctly kept and intact.

All cables are correctly kept and intact.

Grounding system

Check whether all ground cables are correctly connected and captive screws are secured.

All cables are firmly connected and in good conditions.

Protective system

  • Check whether unwanted substances exist on the top and inside of the cabinet.
  • Check whether rodent-proof nets on the top and at the bottom of the cabinet are tightly wrapped and undamaged.
  • No unwanted substances exist on the top and inside of the cabinet.
  • All rodent-proof nets are tightly wrapped and undamaged.

Dust-proof system

Check whether the cabinet exterior is clean.

The exterior of the cabinet and air intakes at the bottom of the cabinet are clean.

Cable labels

Check whether labels are clearly marked and securely attached.

Labels are clearly marked and securely attached.

Free disk slots

Check whether free disk slots are covered with filler panels.

Free slots are covered with disk filler panels for proper heat dissipation and neat exterior.

Free PCIe card slots

Check whether free PCIe card slots are covered with filler panels.

Free PCIe card slots are covered with PCIe card filler panels for proper heat dissipation and neat exterior.
