Setting the System Time

Setting the System Time

When the time of the storage system is inaccurate, you need to change the time of the storage system so that you can locate the time when an alarm is generated based on the alarm logs. This operation enables you to set NTP automatic synchronization or manually change the device time.

Only the super administrators and security administrators can set the system time.

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Time Settings.
  3. You can set the system time in one of the following ways:

    • Enabling NTP automatic synchronization
      1. Select Enable NTP synchronization.
      2. Set NTP Server Address to the IPv4 address or IPv6 address of the NTP server.

A maximum of three NTP servers can be added. If the time of one NTP server cannot be automatically synchronized to the storage device, the storage system attempts to synchronize its time with that of other NTP servers.

      3. Optional: Click Test.
      4. Optional: Select Enable after NTP Authentication.

Some product models may not support NTP authentication. Only when NTPv4 or later is used, NTP authentication can be enabled to authenticate an NTP server's identity and automatically synchronize the server's time to the storage system.

      5. From the Time Zone drop-down list, select the time zone where the storage system resides.
    • Manually changing the system time.
      1. Select Set time manually.
      2. In the Time Settings area, change the time.
      3. From the Time Zone drop-down list, select the time zone where the storage system resides.

Set the correct time zone and time. Otherwise, the time recorded in alarms or logs may be different from the actual time, affecting fault locating.

  4. Click Save and confirm your operation as prompted.
