Remotely Logging In to iBMC of a Storage Node

Remotely Logging In to iBMC of a Storage Node

iBMC is a server remote management system. iBMC is compatible with the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specifications for servers and supports highly reliable hardware monitoring and management. If the hardware of a storage node is faulty, you can log in to iBMC of the storage node to locate the hardware fault.

Prerequisites

  • The management terminal and the Mgmt port of the storage node communicate with each other properly.
  • To use the remote control function, ensure that the clients running iBMC have available operating systems, browsers, and Java running environments. For details about the version requirements, see iBMC WebUI > Remote Console in the Huawei Rack Server iBMC version User Guide.
    NOTE:

Obtain server user guides as follows:

    • For enterprise users, log in to http://support.huawei.com/enterprise/, enter 5288 V5 in the search box, and click the path displayed below the search box to enter the product page. Click Documentation and download the user guide of the desired version.
    • For carrier users, log in to http://support.huawei.com/carrier/, enter 5288 V5 in the search box, and click the path displayed below the search box to enter the product page. Click Product Documentation and download the user guide of the desired version.

Procedure

  1. Open a browser on the management terminal.
  2. Enter https://IP address in the address box and press Enter.

    NOTE:

IP address indicates the BMC plane IP address of a storage node. Use the BMC plane IP address of the storage node based on the network plan.

  3. Ignore the warning information. Take Internet Explorer as an example. If the browser displays There is a problem with this website's security certificate, click Continue to this website (not recommended). The iBMC login page is displayed.
  4. Enter the user name and password, and click Log In.

The iBMC user name and default password of the V5 server and TaiShan V2 server is Administrator and Admin@9000, respectively. The iBMC user name and default password of the TaiShan server and TaiShan V2 server are root and Huawei12#$, respectively.

    NOTE:

If the login fails, see the online help.

To reduce security risks, change the default password of the Administrator account on each storage node upon the system delivery, and change the passwords periodically.
