Logging In to DeviceManager

DeviceManager is a piece of integrated storage management software developed by Huawei. You can log in to DeviceManager using a browser on any maintenance terminal connected to the storage system by using the management floating IP address of the controller of the storage system as a local user.


Before using DeviceManager, check that the management terminal meets the following requirements:

  • The operating system and browser running on the management terminal are compatible with DeviceManager.

    DeviceManager supports multiple operating systems and browsers. For details about the compatibility information, see the Huawei Storage Interoperability.

  • The communication between the management terminal and storage device is normal.


  • This section uses the Windows operating system as an example to describe how to log in to DeviceManager. When you log in to DeviceManager on other operating systems, you need to perform the operations according to the actual situation.
  • If the current user does not perform any operation within the session timeout period (30 minutes by default, which can be modified), the system automatically exits and the user needs to log in again.
  • If a non-super administrator has not logged in to the storage system for a period of time (60 days by default, which can be modified), the account will be locked and can be unlocked only by the super administrator. The unlocking method is as follows:

    Log in to DeviceManager as a super administrator, choose Settings > User and Security > Users and Roles > User Management, select the user name to be unlocked, and click Unlock.


    If the super administrator chooses Settings > User and Security > Security Policy and selects Lock Account When Idle, the account is locked only when a non-super administrator has not logged in to the system for a specified period of time.

  • By default, DeviceManager allows a maximum of 32 logged-in users.


  1. Open a browser on the management terminal.
  2. In the address box of the browser, enter https://[Floating management IPv4 address]:8088 or https://[Floating management IPv6 address]:8088, and press Enter.

    • If a firewall is deployed, port 8088 must be enabled when the system provides web services.
    • The browser may display a message indicating that the security certificate of the website is incorrect. If the IP address is correct, you can ignore the message and continue to access the storage system.
    • If you have an available security certificate, you are advised to run commands to import the certificate to improve system security.

  3. (Optional) Click the language type in the upper right corner to switch the language.

    DeviceManager supports two languages: simplified Chinese and English.

  4. Set Username and Password.

    If you log in as a super administrator, the default user name and password are admin and Admin@storage.

    • The user name and password are case-sensitive.
    • If the default password has been changed, use the new password to log in.
    • When the password locking function of user security policy is enabled (enabled by default), the account is locked if the number of incorrect password attempts exceeds the maximum (3 by default) within 5 minutes. The super administrator account is locked for 15 minutes. Other users are locked for 15 minutes by default.

    To ensure account security, you need to change the initial password when logging in to DeviceManager for the first time. You are advised to change the password periodically. After logging in to DeviceManager, choose Settings > User and Security > Users and Roles > User Management to change the password of the login account.

  5. Click Log In.

    The DeviceManager management page is displayed.


    During the operation, click the current login user in the upper right corner of the page, and then click Log out in the drop-down list box to log out of DeviceManager.
