Roles and Permissions of an Administrator

Roles and Permissions of an Administrator

To prevent incorrect operations from affecting service system stability and service data security, the system controls users' operation permissions by providing different roles for users. Before using this document, ensure that you have the operation permissions of the current account.

Roles and Permissions of a User

Roles and permissions: define the objects that a user operates and accesses.

The storage system provides four roles. Table 1-1 shows the roles and permissions.

Table 1-1 User roles

Role

Description

Super administrator

Has full control permission on storage devices and can create and view users with various roles. User admin exists by default, and its default password is Admin@storage.

Administrator

Has all permissions except user management and security management.

NOTE:
  • Security management includes security policy, session management, access control, certificate management, time configuration, and key management.
  • The administrator has the permission to view security policies.

System viewer

Has permissions to query information and change the password of a user.

NOTE:

The system viewer has only the viewing permission of the administrator and does not have the viewing permission of the security administrator.

Security administrator

Has system security configuration permissions, including security policy configuration, access control, certificate management, time configuration, and key management.

NOTE:

The security administrator has only the permission to view security-related configurations and does not have the permission to view other configurations.

Querying the Permissions of the Current Login User

After logging in to the storage system, you can perform the following operations to learn the operation permissions of the current account.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > User and Security > Users and Roles > User Management.
  3. In the information display area, view Role of the current login user and confirm the operation permissions of the current account according to Table 1-1.

    NOTE:
    • If you log in as a super administrator, you can view information about all users of the current device.
    • If you log in as another role, you can only view information about the role.
