Setting General Conference Parameters

Setting General Conference Parameters

General conference parameters on your endpoint include the answering mode, whether to mute local audio for answered calls, whether to enable do not disturb (DND), and default call bandwidth.

Background

General conference parameters apply to the following conferences:

  • Point-to-point conferences initiated by your site
  • Conferences that your site joins by answering the call from a remote site

Procedure

  1. Choose System Settings > Conference and click the General Settings tab.
  2. Set the general conference parameters listed in Table 1-15.

    Table 1-15  General conference parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Setting

    Answer mode

Specifies how your endpoint handles incoming calls.

    • Manual: Your endpoint prompts you to handle a call when the call comes in.
    • Auto: Your endpoint automatically answers incoming calls when not being used in a conference.

    The default value is Manual.

Mute local audio for answered calls

This parameter is available only when Answer mode is set to Auto.

If you enable this parameter, your local site will not be heard by remote sites after your endpoint is called to join a conference.

    The default value is Disable.

    Do not disturb

Specifies whether the DND function is configurable on the UI.

If you enable this parameter, the DND function can be enabled or disabled on the UI. The DND function prevents you from being disturbed by incoming calls.

    The default value is Yes.

    Default call bandwidth

Specifies the default data transmission rate for your endpoint.

    NOTE:

If this parameter is set incorrectly, the video quality will be affected or the call might even fail to be set up.

The default value is 1920 kbps.

    Maximum incoming call bandwidth

Specifies the maximum bandwidth allowed for receiving calls. The bandwidths used for placing and receiving calls cannot exceed this bandwidth.

This parameter does not conflict with Default call bandwidth. During a call, the system automatically uses the smaller value of Default call bandwidth and Maximum incoming call bandwidth as the incoming call bandwidth.

The default value is 8 Mbps.

    Call settings

Specifies whether you can set the call type and call rate before initiating point-to-point calls on the UI.

    The default value is Disable.

    Wi-Fi network preference

Specifies whether to prioritize a Wi-Fi network when both wireless and wired networks are available.

    The default value is Disable.

    Allow IP calls

Specifies whether the endpoint can call a remote site by IP address.

    The default value is Enable.

    Allow H.323 incoming calls

Specifies whether the endpoint allows remote sites to call its H.323 number. After this function is disabled, a remote site is notified that the called endpoint is busy when failing to call the endpoint's H.323 number.

    The default value is Enable.

    Unified access number

Specifies the prefix that will be uniformly added to each number dialed by the endpoint. For example, 0755 is specified as the Unified access number. If the number to dial is 07556999, you only need to enter 6999. Then 0755 will be automatically prefixed to 6999.

No default value is set for this parameter.

    Scanning device address

Specifies the IP address of the WeLink server. The IP address, combined with the E.164 number that the endpoint has registered with the H.323 server, generates the QR code for joining a conference.

After Scanning device address and E.164 are set, the Meeting tab page is available on the call screen of the Touch and display. You can use the WeLink to scan the QR code to join a conference.

No default value is set for this parameter.

Obtain the WeLink server IP address from the WeLink server administrator.

    Whiteboard server address

Specifies the IP address of domain name of the whiteboard server (that is, WeLink server). The Save and Open buttons are added to the toolbar of the local whiteboard.

    • Tap Save to access the QR code screen. Use WeLink to scan the QR code to save the whiteboard content to Onebox and email the content to participants.
    • Tap Open to access the QR code screen. Use WeLink to scan the QR code to save the whiteboard content.

No default value is set for this parameter.

Obtain the value of this parameter from the WeLink server administrator.

    Encrypted transmission to whiteboard server

Specifies whether to enable encrypted transmission when the endpoint is connected to the whiteboard server.

    The default value is Enable.

    Q.931 keep-alive

Specifies whether to enable the Q.931 keep-alive function to keep alive links between the Huawei endpoint and devices of other vendors. If this function is disabled, calls between the Huawei endpoint and devices of other vendors may be released abnormally.

    The default value is Enable.

    Multistreaming conference

Specifies whether the endpoint joins a multistreaming conference using the multistreaming mode.

    The default value is Enable.

  3. Click Save.

    The settings take effect immediately.
