Checking Alarm Information

Checking Alarm Information

You need to check whether faults have occurred and important alarm information have been generated on the NE40E.

  1. Run the display alarm all command to view all active hardware alarms on the NE40E to determine if faults have occurred on the NE40E.

    <HUAWEI> display alarm all
    Info: NO alarm!

If the preceding information is displayed, the hardware is not faulty. Otherwise, locate and rectify any found fault based on the contents of the Info field in the command output.

  2. Run the display trapbuffer [ size buffersize ] command to view information about trap messages in the trap buffer on the NE40E.

    <HUAWEI> display trapbuffer
Trapping buffer configuration and contents : enabled
Allowed max buffer size : 1024
    Actual buffer size : 512
    Dropped messages : 0
    Overwritten messages :
    Current messages : 187

    P, OperStatus=UP, Reason=Interface physical link is Up.)

The part displayed in boldface in the preceding information indicates the alarm severity. Note down the alarms and immediately handle the alarms whose alarm severities are 3 or higher.

  3. Run the display alarm statistics [ name alarm-name ] command to check alarm statistics.

    <HUAWEI> display alarm statistics
    Alarm Statistic
    AlarmName : IsisAdjacencyChange
    Active : 0
    All : 1
    AlarmName : linkDown
    Active : 0
    All : 142

If an alarm name is specified in the command, the command will display statistics about the specified alarm only. Displayed alarm statistics will inform you of the number of alarm generations and help you evaluate the NE40E operating status and service quality.
