Verifying the Configuration of the PIM Anycast-Rendezvous Point (RP)

Verifying the Configuration of the PIM Anycast-Rendezvous Point (RP)

After configuring PIM Anycast-Rendezvous Point (RP), verify the Anycast-RP configuration.

Prerequisites

PIM Anycast-RP has been configured.

Procedure

  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] rp-info command to check RP information.
  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instancevpn-instance-name | all-instance ] routing-table command to check information about the PIM routing table.

Example

Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] rp-info command on all Anycast-RP-capable devices to check whether RP information is consistent. In this example, the RP address 1.1.1.1 is displayed.

<HUAWEI> display pim rp-info
 VPN-Instance: public net
 PIM-SM BSR RP Number:1
 Group/MaskLen: 224.0.0.0/4
     RP: 1.1.1.1 (local)
     Priority: 0
     Uptime: 00:45:19
     Expires: 00:02:11

If the RP information is the same on all Anycast-RP-capable devices, the Anycast-RP is configured successfully.

Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] routing-table command on all Anycast-RP-capable devices to check information about the PIM routing tables.

<HUAWEI> display pim routing-table
 VPN-Instance: public net
 Total 0 (*, G) entry; 1 (S, G) entries

 (10.110.1.2, 226.1.1.1)
     RP: 1.1.1.1 (local)
     Protocol: pim-sm, Flag: 2MSDP ACT
     UpTime: 00:00:38
     Upstream interface: Register
         Upstream neighbor: NULL
         RPF prime neighbor: NULL
     Downstream interface(s) information: None

The command output shows that the Anycast-RP peer can learn source and group information from the multicast source. If other peers can also learn the source and group information from the multicast source, the Anycast-RP is configured successfully.
