Verifying the PIM Anycast-RP Configuration

Verifying the PIM Anycast-RP Configuration

After configuring PIM Anycast-Rendezvous Point (RP), verify the Anycast-RP configuration.

Prerequisites

PIM Anycast-RP has been configured.

Procedure

  • Run the display pim ipv6 rp-info command to check RP information.
  • Run the display pim ipv6 routing-table command to check the IPv6 PIM routing table.

Example

Run the display pim ipv6 rp-info command on all Anycast-RP-capable devices to check whether RP information is consistent.

<HUAWEI> display pim ipv6 rp-info
 VPN-Instance: public net
 PIM-SM BSR RP Number:1
 Group/MaskLen: FF00::/8
     RP: 2001:db8:1::1 (local)
     Priority: 192
     Uptime: 00:05:56
     Expires: 00:01:34

If RP information is consistent on all Anycast-RP-capable devices, for example, RP: 2001:db8:1::1 (local) is displayed on all the devices, the Anycast-RP is successfully configured.

Run the display pim ipv6 routing-table command on all Anycast-RP-capable devices to check information about the IPv6 PIM routing tables.

<HUAWEI> display pim ipv6 routing-table
 VPN-Instance: public net
 Total 0 (*, G) entry; 1 (S, G) entry

 (2011:1::2, FF5E::6)
     RP: 2001:db8:1::1 (local)
     Protocol: pim-sm, Flag: SPT ACT
     UpTime: 00:01:40
     Upstream interface: GigabitEthernet 2/0/0
         Upstream neighbor: FE80::2
         RPF prime neighbor: FE80::2
     Downstream interface(s) information:
     Total number of downstreams: 1
         1: GigabitEthernet 1/0/0
             Protocol: pim-sm, UpTime: 00:00:45, Expires: 00:02:45

The command output shows that the Anycast-RP peer can learn source and group information from the multicast source. If other peers can also learn the source and group information from the multicast source, the Anycast-RP is configured successfully.
