Verifying the PIM-SM Configuration

Verifying the PIM-SM Configuration

After PIM-SM is configured, verify information about BootStrap routers (BSRs), rendezvous points (RPs), PIM interfaces, PIM neighbors, and PIM routing tables.

Prerequisites

PIM-SM has been configured.

Procedure

  • Run display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] bsr-info command to check BSR information in a PIM-SM domain.
  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] interface [ interface-type interface-number ] [ verbose ] command to check PIM interface information.
  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] neighbor [ interface interface-type interface-number | neighbor-address | verbose ] * command to check PIM neighbor information.
  • Run thedisplay pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] routing-table [ group-address [ mask { group-mask-length | group-mask } ] | source-address [ mask { source-mask-length | source-mask } ] | outgoing-interface include { interface-type interface-number | register | none } | fsm ] command to check the PIM routing table.
  • Run display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] rp-info [ group-address ] command to check RP information in a PIM-SM domain.
  • Run the display multicast global statistics command to check PIM resource statistics.

Example

Run the display pim bsr-info command. In the command output, Elected BSR Address displays the elected BSR's address in the PIM-SM domain, Candidate BSR Address displays a C-BSR's address, and State displays Elected, indicating that a C-BSR is configured on the router and is elected as the BSR.

<HUAWEI> display pim bsr-info
 VPN-Instance: public net
 Elected AdminScope BSR Count: 0
 Elected BSR Address: 10.1.2.2
     Priority: 0
     Hash mask length: 30
     State: Elected
     Scope: Not scoped
     Uptime: 00:10:42
Next BSR message scheduled at: 00:00:31
     C-RP Count: 1
 Candidate AdminScope BSR Count: 0
 Candidate BSR Address: 10.1.2.2
     Priority: 0
     Hash mask length: 30
     State: Elected
     Scope: Not scoped
     Wait to be BSR: 0

Run the display pim interface command. The command output shows the PIM status on interfaces and the number of PIM neighbor relationships that each interface has established.

<HUAWEI> display pim interface
VPN-Instance: public net
Interface State NbrCnt HelloInt DR-Pri DR-Address
 GE1/0/0 up 1 30 1 10.1.1.2
 GE2/0/0 up 0 30 1 172.16.0.2 (local)
 GE3/0/0 up 1 30 1 10.2.1.2
 Loopback0 up 0 30 1 1.1.1.1 (local)

Run the display pim neighbor command. The command output shows the number of PIM neighbors, PIM neighbor addresses, and interfaces that set up PIM neighbor relationships.

<HUAWEI> display pim neighbor
 VPN-Instance: public net
 Total Number of Neighbors
= 2
Neighbor Interface Uptime Expires Dr-Priority BFD-Session

Run the display pim routing-table command. The command output shows source addresses and group addresses in PIM entries and information about RPs, upstream interfaces, and downstream interfaces.

<HUAWEI> display pim routing-table

VPN-Instance: public net
 Total 0 (*, G) entry; 1 (S, G) entry

Run the display pim rp-info command. The command output shows the RP address, RP priority, and addresses of the groups that the RP serves. Local indicates that the local router is elected as the RP.

<HUAWEI> display pim rp-info

Run the display multicast global statistics command. The command output shows the limit on the number of PIM entries and alarm thresholds.

<HUAWEI> display multicast global pim sm statistics
