Verifying the Configuration of PIM Neighbor, DR, Forwarding, or Assert Parameters

Verifying the Configuration of PIM Neighbor, DR, Forwarding, or Assert Parameters

After adjusting PIM neighbor parameters, Designated router (DR) parameters, forwarding parameters, or Assert parameters, verify information about PIM interfaces, PIM neighbors, PIM routing tables, and statistics about PIM control messages.

Prerequisites

PIM neighbor parameters, DR parameters, forwarding parameters, or Assert parameters have been adjusted.

Procedure

  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] interface [ interface-type interface-number | up | down ] [ verbose ] command to check information about PIM interfaces.
  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] neighbor [ neighbor-address | interface interface-type interface-number | verbose ] * command to check information about PIM neighbors.
  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] routing-table [ group-address [ mask { group-mask-length | group-mask } ] | source-address [ mask { source-mask-length | source-mask } ] | outgoing-interface include { interface-type interface-number | register | none } | fsm ] command to check information about the PIM routing table.
  • Run the display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] control-message counters [ interface interface-type interface-number | message-type { assert | hello | join-prune | bsr } ] * or display pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] control-message counters message-type { crp | probe | register | register-stop } command to check statistics about PIM control messages.

Example

Run the display pim interface command. The command output shows the PIM status on an interface and the number of PIM neighbor relationships that an interface has established.

<HUAWEI> display pim interface
VPN-Instance: public net
Interface State NbrCnt HelloInt DR-Pri DR-Address
 GE1/0/0 up 1 30 1 10.1.1.2
 GE2/0/0 up 0 30 1 172.168.0.2 (local)
 GE3/0/0 up 1 30 1 20.1.1.2
 Loopback0 up 0 30 1 1.1.1.1 (local)

Run the display pim neighbor command. The command output shows the number of PIM neighbors, PIM neighbor addresses, and interfaces that set up PIM neighbor relationships.

<HUAWEI> display pim neighbor
 VPN-Instance: public net
 Total Number of Neighbors
= 2
Neighbor Interface Uptime Expires Dr-Priority BFD-Session
 10.1.1.2 GE1/0/0 02:50:49 00:01:31 1 N
 20.1.1.2 GE3/0/0 02:49:39 00:01:42 1 N

Run the display pim routing-table command. The command output shows source addresses and group addresses in PIM entries and information about the upstream interface and downstream interface lists.

<HUAWEI> display pim routing-table
VPN-Instance: public net
 Total 0 (*, G) entry; 1 (S, G) entry

         RPF prime neighbor: NULL
     Downstream interface(s) information:
     Total number of downstreams: 1
         1: GigabitEthernet3/0/0
             Protocol: pim-sm, UpTime: 02:54:43, Expires: 00:02:47

Run the display pim control-message counters command. The command output shows statistics about the received, sent, invalid, and filtered PIM messages.
