Configuring OSPFv3 Flush LSA Source Tracing

OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing helps improve the efficiency in locating the devices that flushed OSPFv3 LSAs.

Usage Scenario

If network-wide OSPFv3 LSPs are deleted, purge LSPs are flooded, which adversely affects network stability. In this case, source tracing must be implemented to locate the root cause of the fault immediately to minimize the impact. However, OSPFv3 itself does not support source tracing. A conventional solution is isolation node by node until the faulty node is located, but the solution is complex and time-consuming. To address this problem, enable OSPFv3 purge LSP source tracing.

NOTE:

The following steps are optional, choose them as required.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing, complete the following task:

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

    By default, the OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing function is enabled globally. To disable this function, run the ospfv3 flush-source-trace disable command.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

    By default, the OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing function is enabled on all interfaces of a specified OSPFv3 process. To disable this function on an interface, run the ospfv3 flush-source-trace block command.

  3. Run quit

    The system view is displayed.

  4. Run ospfv3 [ process-id ] vpn-instance vpn-instance-name

    The OSPFv3 process is started, and the OSPFv3 view is displayed.

  5. Run ospfv3 flush-source-trace port port-number

    A UDP port number is specified for OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing packets.

    The OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing port receives and sends OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing packets, and the port is identified by a UDP port number. If the UDP port number conflicts with that of an application, you can change the UDP port number of OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing packets using the ospfv3 flush-source-trace port command.

  6. Run quit

    The system view is displayed.

  7. Run quit

    The user view is displayed.

  8. Run reset ospfv3 [ process-id ] flush-source-trace

    OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing is reset.

    If a large number of OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing statistics are stored on a device, you can run the reset ospfv3 flush-source-trace command to reset the statistics. After the command is run, all OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing statistics are reset, and the device needs to re-negotiate the OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing capability with neighboring devices.

  9. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Checking the Configurations

Run the display ospfv3 [ process-id ] [ area area-id ] flush-source-trace analysis-info command to check information about definitely and possibly faulty nodes identified by OSPFv3 flush LSA source tracing.
