This section describes how to configure CTC-based traffic policies for IP packets.

Context

Along with the popularizing of internet, the services in the internet become diversifying with several services sharing one internet source. To manage or limit the traffic that goes into or flows in a network according to the class of service, you need to configure QoS traffic policies based on the complex traffic classification. In this way, traffic from different users, such as voice services, video services, and data services can be served differently in terms of bandwidth, delay, and precedence.

Traffic policies based on the complex traffic classification provide differentiated services according to parameters such as DSCP, protocol type, IP address, or port number in the packet, which can meet the requirements of different services and users to bandwidth, delay, and precedence.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring CTC-based traffic policies for IP packets, you need to complete the following tasks:

  • Configuring the physical parameters of interfaces

  • Configuring the link layer attributes of interfaces to ensure their normal operation

  • Enabling the routing protocol for communication between devices
