This section describes how to configure queue scheduling on low-speed links.

Usage Scenario

Links connected to low-speed interfaces have insufficient network resources and are prone to traffic congestion. SDH is short for synchronous digital hierarchy and SONET for synchronous optical network. To prevent packets from being indiscriminately dropped when traffic congestion occurs, users require that packets be classified into different queues for priority queuing (PQ) and weighted fair queuing (WFQ) scheduling to ensure that higher-priority packets are forwarded ahead of lower-priority packets.

Pre-configuration Task

Before configuring queue scheduling on low-speed links, complete the following tasks:

  • Configure the physical parameters of low-speed interfaces.

  • Configure the link layer attributes of low-speed interfaces.

  • Configure IP addresses for low-speed interfaces.

  • Enable a routing protocol for communication between devices.
