(Optional) Configuring a Buffer Time for Queues on an Interface

When a large volume of traffic keeps being transmitted on an interface, traffic congestion occurs and leads to a long delay. You can configure a buffer time for queues on the interface to resolve this problem. Setting a short buffer time speeds up packet forwarding and minimizes delays.

Context

NOTE:

The buffer time of a queue is defined based on 64-byte PPP packets.

Perform the following steps on the router.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. Run port-queue cos-value queue-limit max-buffer-time buffer-time-value

    A buffer time is configured for queues on the interface.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
