Example for Configuring Single-Edge Multicast Virtual Scheduling

This section provides an example for configuring single-edge multicast virtual scheduling in the case where a single device is used for both user access and multicast forwarding.

Networking Requirement

NOTE:
  • This is an example of normal single-edge networking. In the case of networking in an MPLS multicast service, run multicast without-forwarding to disable the devices from copying the multicast data.

  • In addition, in the networking of MPLS multicast service, the IGMP and PIM protocols can be configured on only the VE interface. For details, refer to the "IGMP Configuration" and "PIM-SM (IPv4) Configuration" of the HUAWEI NetEngine40E Universal Service Router Configuration Guide - IP Multicast

As shown in Figure 11-4, the user is connected to the network in the IPoEoVLAN mode from the GE1/0/0.100 interface of the router on the basis of each family. The router authenticates the user through a RADIUS server and allocates bandwidth for the user. The default bandwidth of the user is 2 Mbit/s. The DSLAM supports IGMP snooping.

The router is responsible for user access and multicast traffic forwarding. On the basis of the existing network, the router is configured to perform multicast virtual scheduling for the user to ensure the normal playback of the multicast program. If the user subscribes to a CCTV program with multicast source 10.0.0.1/24 or a JSTV program with multicast source 10.0.0.2/24, the router adjusts the unicast bandwidth for the user according to the multicast bandwidth. The minimum value of the unicast bandwidth of the user is 1 Mbit/s.

NOTE:

Subinterfaces 1 and interface 2 in this example are GE 1/0/0.100 and GE 2/0/0.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Configure the IP addresses of the interfaces and the unicast routing protocol to implement IP connectivity.

  2. Configure the access type of the user to IPoEoVLAN to ensure that the user can have access to the Internet normally.

  3. Configure the IGMP and the PIM-SM protocols.

  4. Configure the multicast VLAN at the main interface for user login so that the router can deliver the multicast data through the multicast VLAN.

  5. Configure the multicast program and the dynamic bandwidth for the program.

  6. Configure the bandwidth reserved for unicast and enable multicast virtual scheduling.

Data Preparation

To complete the configuration, you need the following data:

  • Number of the interface from which the user is connected to the network, VLAN ID on the user side, and home domain of the user

  • Multicast VLAN ID

  • Address and bandwidth of the multicast program source

  • Bandwidth reserved for unicast

Procedure

  1. Configure the IP address of the interface and the unicast routing protocol.

    For details, refer to the HUAWEI NetEngine40E Universal Service Router Configuration Guide - IP Services and the HUAWEI NetEngine40E Universal Service Router Configuration Guide - IP Routing.

  2. Configure user access.

    Configure the user to connect to the network in the IPoEoVLAN mode through GE1/0/0.100 of the router. The user VLAN ID ranges from 1 to 100, and the home domain of the user is "huawei". Configure the router to authenticate the user through the RADIUS server. For details, refer to "BRAS Access Configuration" of the HUAWEI NetEngine40E Universal Service Router Configuration Guide - User Access.

  3. Set the default value of the total bandwidth for the user.
