This section provides an example for configuring multicast shaping.

Networking Requirements

As shown in Figure 11-6, the router functions as the BRAS to provide the Internet service and the IPTV multicast service for users in the isp1 domain. The IGMP protocol is used at the host side and the SM mode is used for the PIM network.

The requirements on multicast shaping are as follows:
  • The function of multicast shaping uses 5 Mbit/s committed bandwidth and 10 Mbit/s peak bandwidth.

  • The IP address of the multicast source is 10.0.0.2 and the IP address of the multicast group is 239.0.0.1.

NOTE:

Interfaces 1 and interface 2 in this example are GE 1/0/0 and GE 2/0/0.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Configure the IP address of the interface and the unicast routing protocol.

  2. Configure the BRAS service so that users can go online.

  3. Configure the IGMP and the PIM-SM protocols.

  4. Configure the function of multicast shaping.

Data Preparation

To complete the configuration, you need the following data:

  • Name of the Multicast shaping list

Procedure

  1. Configure the IP address of the interface and the unicast routing protocol.

    For configuration procedure, refer to the HUAWEI NetEngine40E Universal Service Router Configuration Guide - IP Routing.

  2. Configure the access service.

    For configuration procedure, refer to the HUAWEI NetEngine40E Universal Service Router Configuration Guide - User Access.

  3. Configure the IGMP and the PIM-SM protocols.

    Enable the multicast function and enable the IGMP function at the interfaces at the host side.

    # Enable the multicast function on the router and enable the IGMP function at the interfaces on the host side. Enable the IGMP function at the GE2/0/0 interface. The version of the IGMP protocol is v2.
