Centralized NAT444 Inter-chassis Hot Backup Solution

On the network shown in Figure 11-12, if the BRAS and CGN functions cannot be integrated into one device, separately deploying a CGN device to the CR or SR is recommended. In this manner, CPEs can dial up through the BRAS, and the BRAS can allocate private IP addresses for the CPEs. Upon receipt of a packet from a PC, the CPEs perform the first NAT on the IP address of the PC, and the CGN device performs the second NAT on the CPEs. The NATed packets are then transmitted to the ISP core network through CR1. This solution is called centralized NAT444 inter-chassis hot backup because there are two NAT operations and the CGN function is centralized on CR1 and CR2 where inter-chassis hot backup is implemented.
