Definition

The state machine-based anti-spoofing (SMA) function, also known as an inter-AS IPv6 source address verification solution, verifies source IPv6 addresses by creating a trust alliance of associated ASs.

Purpose

IP source address spoofing attacks, such as DoS and DDoS, adversely affect the running of the Internet. These attacks can render source-address-based defense methods useless. In addition, such attacks lead to junk traffic and zombie hosts, whose sources are difficult to trace.

The SMA function effectively defends against source IP address spoofing attacks in IPv6 scenarios.

Benefits

The SMA function enhances IPv6 network security and effectively lowers the costs required for maintaining IPv6 networks and network information security.
