Virtual Cluster Management

Virtual Cluster Management

  • Basic configurations

Virtual cluster parameters are as follows:

    • Cluster mode

A router works in either single-chassis mode (default) or cluster mode. A device can work with the other devices to form a cluster only after it is configured to work in cluster mode.

    • Cluster ID

Each cluster ID uniquely identifies a chassis.

    • Chassis ID

A chassis ID identifies each chassis in a virtual cluster. In the existing version, a maximum of two chassis exist in a cluster. The chassis ID can be 1 or 2.

The cluster configurations are saved in Flash memory on an MPU. The configurations (for example, chassis ID) on a chassis are different from those on another chassis within the same cluster. They are configured separately. The chassis cannot automatically synchronize configurations with each other.

  • Data channel configurations

Like service configurations, data channel configurations of a virtual cluster are saved in a configuration file. All chassis have the same data channel configurations. After a virtual cluster is running on the master system, the master chassis restores the local configurations and automatically stores these configurations to each chassis.

  • Localization configurations

They are the same as data channel configurations.
