Clock Synchronization of Virtual Cluster

The following figure shows the clock and time synchronization solutions of a virtual cluster.

  1. Two chassis run BITS, synchronous Ethernet, and 1588v2 to connect to upper-level clocks.
  2. When the master chassis is working properly, the backup chassis obtains clock or time signals from the master chassis through inter-chassis data links. A virtual cluster automatically runs synchronous Ethernet or 1588v2 on the inter-chassis data links, without manual configurations.
  3. If the master fails, the backup chassis becomes the master and obtains clock and time signals from an upper-level clock connected to a local interface.
