AC Power Distribution

Never install power cables when the power is on.

NOTE:
  • If only AC power is available, the NE40E-X8 requires an AC-DC converter EPS200-4850A/4850B.
  • The EPS200-4850A/4850B and the NE40E-X8 are installed in the same cabinet.
  • If you do not use Huawei power cables, select suitable power cables according to the local cable standards.

If the distance from an AC chassis to an AC PDF is longer than 20 m (65.62 ft.), an AC PDF or power distribution cabinet must be deployed near the device.

Installing the EPS200-4850As

NOTE:
  • This section uses the installation of two EPS200-4850As into a cabinet as an example.
  • The upper EPS200-4850A should be 2 U (3.5 in.) below from the top of the cabinet. Allow 1 U (1.75 in.) clearance between the upper and lower EPS200-4850As.

To install EPS200-4850As, perform the following steps:

  1. Install guide rails, as shown in 1 in Figure 11-14.
  2. Install floating nuts in the first and sixth holes on the mounting rail counting from the bottom of the guide rail, as shown in 2 in Figure 11-14.
  3. Install the EPS200-4850As, and secure them to the cabinet using M6 screws, as shown in 3 and 4 in Figure 11-14.

  4. Install ground cables.

    NOTE:

    The ground cables of the EPS200-4850As should be connected to the ground bar in the equipment room.

  5. Install the monitoring cables.

Cable Connections Between a PEM and EPS200-4850A

Connect a PEM to an EPS200-4850A as shown in the following figure.

The following figure shows cable connections between a PEM and EPS200-4850A.

Installing Power Cables

To install power cables, perform the following steps:

  1. Attach temporary labels to both ends of each power cable.
  2. Route AC power cables along the cable ladder and connect them to the input terminals of the EPS200-4850A, as shown in 1 in Figure 11-18. Connect the other end of each power cable to the PDF in the equipment room.
  3. Connect the output terminals of the EPS200-4850A to the input terminals of the PEM, as shown in 2 in Figure 11-18.
  4. Re-install plastic covers on power modules' connection boxes.
  5. Use cable ties to bundle the cables every 150 mm (5.91 in.) upwards from the bottom end and secure the cables to the cable tray.
  6. Attach permanent labels 20 mm (0.79 in.) from both ends of each power cable.

Installing a Three-Core AC Power Cable

To install a three-core AC power cable, perform the following steps:

  1. Remove a specific length of the cable sheath and cut the PE wire (yellow-and-green) at the point where the cable sheath is removed (you can wrap the exposed PE wire with a PVC insulation tape to prevent electricity leakage or short circuit). Then, remove the sheath of the L wire (brown) and that of the N wire (blue) and crimp the OT terminals.

  2. Connect the L wire and N wire respectively to the L and N input OT terminals on the AC power distribution box.

    NOTE:

    If an AC power cable has two L wires and one N wire, perform the following steps:

    • When 110 V power supply (two L wires) is provided, connect two L wires to the L and N input terminals (OT terminals). Follow the procedure for cutting the PE wire to cut the N wire.
    • When 220 V power supply (one L wire and one N wire) is provided, connect the L wire and N wire to the L and N input terminals (OT terminals) on the AC Power distribution box, respectively. Follow the procedure for cutting the PE wire to cut the other L wire.
