Installing the NE40E-X16 in a Cabinet

Installing the NE40E-X16 in a Cabinet

  • The device is heavy, and requires four people to lift and move.
  • When you install the device in a cabinet, hold the handles at both sides of the device, and do not use handles of any other module
  • Avoid stepping on the air filter at the bottom of the cabinet.

The following figure shows how to move the NE40E-X16.

Perform the following steps to install an NE40E-X16 into a cabinet:

  1. Unpack the crate.

    • Space permitting, carry the wooden crate into or near the equipment room before you unpack it. This can prevent the chassis from being damaged when moved without protective packaging.
    • Wear gloves when you unpack the crate to avoid injury from sharp edges.
  2. Install guide rails.
    Figure 9-4 Installing guide rails

If you use a third-party cabinet, you can install adjustable guide rails in the cabinet. Fix the guide rails into the mounting bar through the positioning pins at the front and rear ends of the guide rails. Then, fix the front and rear ends through M6 screws.

    • Identify the left and right guide rails, and the front and rear ends of each guide rail according to the L/F and R/F flags on the guide rails. Install the guide rails in the correct direction.
    • Ensure that the front and rear ends of each guide rail are on the same horizontal plane.
    • The third-party cabinet you use must meet the following requirements:

      • It must be a 19 inch cabinet that meets the IEC standard.
      • The installation surface of the cabinet must have a mounting hole with dimensions no less than 9.0 mm * 9.0 mm (0.354 in. * 0.354 in.).
      • Distance between front and rear mount bars: 500-850 mm (19.68-33.46 in.) (21242246).
      • The weight of the chassis applicable to this guide rail is not more than 425 kg.

    • The side the top of which has ground screws is the rear of a Huawei N68E cabinet.
    • The bottom of each guide rail must be aligned with the scale on the mounting bar.
    • The floating nuts must be installed securely so that they will not fall out when they are fastened using screws.
    • Make sure that the clearance between the guide rails and the cabinet bottom is at least 1U (1.75 in.).
    • 1 U = 44.45 mm (1.75 in.)
  3. Use a measuring tape to measure and locate the holes to install screws for mounting ears. Determine the positions to install floating nuts. Install the floating nuts on the mounting rails.

  4. Place the NE40E-X16 on the guide rails of the cabinet and push the chassis into the cabinet. Use M6 panel screws to secure chassis in the cabinet.
