This section describes safety precautions that instruct you to select measuring and testing instruments when you install, operate, and maintain Huawei devices.

All Safety Precautions

To ensure human safety and device security, comply with all the safety precautions marked on the device and instructed in the product document.

The "CAUTION", "WARNING", and "DANGER" marks in the product document do not cover all the safety precautions that must be obeyed. They are supplements to the safety precautions.

Local Laws and Regulations

When operating a device, abide by local laws and regulations. The safety precautions instructed in the documents are supplementary to the local laws and regulations.

General Installation Requirements

Installation and maintenance personnel must be trained to perform operations correctly and safely.

  • Only the trained and qualified personnel are permitted to install, operate, and maintain Huawei devices.
  • Only the qualified personnel are permitted to dismantle safety appliances and repair Huawei devices.
  • Only the personnel authenticated or authorized by Huawei are permitted to replace or change Huawei devices or parts of Huawei devices (including software).
  • The operating personnel must immediately report the faults or errors that may cause safety problems to the person in charge.

Grounding Requirements

Devices that need to be grounded must meet the following requirements:

  • When installing the equipment, always connect the grounding cables first; when uninstalling the equipment, disconnect the grounding cables last.
  • Ensure that the grounding conductor is intact.
  • Do not operate the device in the absence of a suitably installed grounding conductor.
  • The device must be connected to the PGND permanently. Before operating the device, check the electrical connections of the device, and ensure that the device is properly grounded.

Human Safety

  • Do not operate devices and cables in a thunderstorm.
  • Remove the AC power connector. Do not use the fixed terminal or touch the terminal or antenna connector in a thunderstorm.
The preceding requirements apply to fixed wireless station terminals.
  • To avoid electric shocks, do not connect safety extra-low voltage (SELV) circuits to telecommunication network voltage (TNV) circuits.
  • Do not look into optical ports without eye protection. Otherwise, eyes may be hurt by laser beams.
  • Before operating the device, wear an ESD coat, ESD gloves, and an ESD wrist strap. In addition, you need to get off the conductive objects, such as jewelry and watches, to prevent electric shock and burn.
  • In case of fire, leave the building or site where the device is located and press the fire alarm button or dial the telephone number for fire alarms. Do not enter the building on fire again in any situation.

Device Security

  • Before operation, properly fix the equipment to the floor or other fixed objects, such as walls or mount brackets.
  • When the system is working, ensure that the ventilation hole is not blocked.
  • When installing the front panel, use a tool to tighten the screws firmly.
  • After installing the device, clean up the packing materials.
