Installing Ground Cables

  • If the NE40E-X3 is near the ground bar in the equipment room, connect the ground cable of the NE40E-X3 directly to the ground bar. If the NE40E-X3 is distant from the ground bar, connect the ground cable to the ground point on the cabinet.
  • In this section, connecting the chassis' ground cable directly to the ground bar is used as an example.
  • All ground terminals must be secured using captive screws, as shown below:

    1. Washer 2. Elastomer 3. Screw

  • The grounding cables must connect to a common bonding network.

Perform the following procedures to install ground cables.

  1. Attach temporary labels to both ends of each ground cable.
  2. Route the ground cable for the cabinet along the cable ladder and connect it to the ground terminal on the top of the cabinet, as shown in 1 in Figure 13-21. Connect the other end of the ground cable to the ground bar in the equipment room.
  3. Install the ground cable on the device, as shown in 2 in Figure 13-21. Connect the other end of the ground cable to the ground bar in the equipment room.
  4. Attach permanent labels 20 mm (0.79 in.) from both ends of each ground cable, as shown in 3 and 4 in Figure 13-21.
