Interface Numbering

An interface is numbered in the format of slot number/card number/port number.

  • Slot number: On the NE40E-X16, the slots of LPUs are numbered from 1 to 16.
  • Card number: The cards of LPUs are numbered beginning with 0. If there is no card on a board, the card number is set to 0.
  • Port number: The ports are numbered beginning with 0.

Installing Boards and Subcards

  • Ensure that no water is on the device or board before you insert the board into the device.
  • Before installing boards, wear the ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves to prevent any electrostatic discharge of the human body from damaging the sensitive components.
  • Insert filler panels to empty slots.
  • The boards in the lower chassis need to be inversely installed. The installation method is the same as that of the boards in the upper chassis.
  • If a board cannot be inserted into a slot, determine whether it is being inserted in a correct slot by checking whether the color on both ends of the board panel is the same as the color on the slot.

Removing redundant guide rails

To install a half-width or a full-width subcard on a motherboard, remove unnecessary guide rails first.

  1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.
  2. Remove the guide rails from the board.
