Outputting Information to a Local Device

Information can be output to an information file or information buffer on a local device. You can also set certain properties of the information file or buffer.

Usage Scenario

The system logs information about device operation in real time. Information can be output to a local device for the query of login users, allowing users to know the operation of the device.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before outputting information to a local device, ensure that the device is powered on correctly and the self-test is successful.

Configuration Procedures

Perform one or more of the following configurations as required.

Outputting Information to an Information Buffer

An information buffer can store multiple latest information records generated by the system. You can set the size of the information buffer or the channel through which information is output to the information buffer.

Context

The system logs information about device operation in real time. You can check the information in an information buffer to know what happened to the device during the operation of the device and locate the fault cause.

NOTE:

In the document, logs and traps are output to an information buffer.

Procedure

  • Output logs to the log buffer.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run info-center logbuffer

      The log buffer function is enabled.

    3. (Optional) Run info-center channel channel-number name channel-name

      The information channel specified by channel-number is named channel-name.

    4. (Optional) Run info-center logbuffer channel { channel-number | channel-name }

      The channel through which logs are output to the log buffer is configured.

    5. (Optional) Run info-center logbuffer size buffersize

      The size of the log buffer is set.

    6. Run info-center source { module-name | default } channel { channel-number | channel-name } log { state { off | on } | level severity }*

      Rules for outputting information through information channels are configured.

    7. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Output traps to the trap buffer.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run info-center enable

      Information management is enabled to output Trap information.

    3. Run info-center trapbuffer

      The trap buffer function is enabled.

    4. (Optional) Run info-center channel channel-number name channel-name

      The information channel specified by channel-number is named channel-name.

    5. (Optional) Run info-center trapbuffer [ channel { channel-number | channel-name } ]

      The channel through which traps are output to the trap buffer is configured.

    6. (Optional) Run info-center trapbuffer size buffersize

      The size of the trap buffer is set.

    7. Run info-center source { module-name | default } channel { channel-number | channel-name } trap { state { off | on } | level severity }*

      Rules for outputting information through information channels are configured.

    8. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

Outputting Information to an Information File

Information output to the information file can be saved on the device in the format of files. This allows users to quickly locate the fault occurring on the device based on the information.

Context

The configuration saves the log and trap information generated by the system to a specified path every 30 minutes so that users can view local historical operations to ensure the normal running of the device.

The system can record what happens to a device during the device operation in the format of information files in real time. This allows users to know what happened to the device during the device operation and locate the fault cause based on the information files.

Procedure

  • Configure the system to automatically output information to an information file.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. (Optional) Run info-center logfile size size

      The size of an information file is configured.

      If the size of an information file exceeds the configuration, the system automatically compresses the information file into a .zip file.

    3. (Optional) Run info-center max-logfile-number filenumbers

      The maximum number of compressed files that the system can save is configured.

      If the number of compressed files to be saved exceeds the threshold, the system deletes compressed files that are generated earlier to ensure that the number of compressed files to be saved remains smaller than or equal to the threshold.

    4. (Optional) Run info-center channel channel-number name channel-name

      The information channel specified by channel-number is named channel-name.

    5. (Optional) Run info-center logfile channel { channel-number | channel-name }

      The channel through which information is output to the information file is configured.

    6. Run info-center source { module-name | default } channel { channel-number | channel-name } [ log { state { off | on } | level severity } * | trap { state { off | on } | level severity } * ]*

      Rules for outputting information through information channels are configured.

    7. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Manually output information to the information file.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. (Optional) Run info-center logfile size size

      The size of an information file is configured. If the size of an information file exceeds the configuration, the system automatically compresses the information file into a .zip file.

Verifying the Configuration of Outputting Information to a Local Device

After configuring information management, verify the configuration.

Prerequisites

Information has been output to the local device.

Procedure

  • Run the display channel [ channel-number | channel-name ] command to check the channel through which information is output.
  • Run the display info-center [ statistics ] command to check the information that information management records.
  • Run the display logbuffer [ security ] [ slot slot-id | module module-name | starttime starttime-value [ endtime endtime-value ] | level { severity | { emergencies | alert | critical | error | warning | notification | informational | debugging } } | size value ] * command to check log information in the log buffer.
  • Run the display trapbuffer [ size value ] command to check trap information in the trap buffer.
  • Run the display logfile path [ offset ] command to check information in the information file.
