Maintaining Fault Management

Maintaining Fault Management

This section describes how to clear alarm statistics and monitor the alarm operating status.

Clearing Alarms

You can clear alarms in the alarm management view as needed.

Context

If alarms are cleared, the NMS cannot obtain information about the cleared alarms by any means. If a fault persists but the alarm triggered by this fault is cleared, the alarm of the same type will no longer be sent to the NMS. Therefore, before deleting alarms, be sure that the NMS no longer needs these alarms.

During routine maintenance, the following commands can be run in the alarm management view to clear alarms.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run alarm

    The alarm management view is displayed.

  3. Run clear alarm active { all | sequence-number sequence-number }

    Active alarms are deleted.

  4. Run clear alarm history { all | sequence-number sequence-number }

    Information about historical alarms in the system is deleted.

Clearing Alarm Statistics

You can clear alarm statistics during routine maintenance.

Context

In routine maintenance, you can run the following commands in the alarm management view to clear alarm statistics.

Alarm statistics cannot be restored after they are cleared. Exercise caution when running the reset command.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run alarm

    The alarm management view is displayed.

  3. Run reset statistics [ name alarm-name ]

    Alarm statistics are cleared.

    The reset statistics command clears all alarm statistics, and the reset statistics name alarm-name command clears statistics about specific alarms.

Monitoring the Alarm Status

You can run the following commands in any view to check the alarm status in routine maintenance.

Procedure

  • Run the display alarm information [ name alarm-name ] command to check alarm configurations.
  • Run the display alarm active command to check information about active alarms.
  • Run the display alarm history command to check information about historical alarms.
  • Run the display alarm statistics [ name alarm-name ] command to check alarm statistics.

    If an alarm name is specified in this command, only the statistics about the specified alarm are displayed. If no alarm name is specified in this command, statistics about all alarms are clarified and displayed.
