NAT Reliability
NAT backup implements data backup between service processing boards (service board for short) of Carrier Grade NAT devices. HA prevents network or service interruption caused by the failure of a single device or link. This feature improves device availability and service reliability and ensures stable operation of the carrier network.
Backup Between Service Boards on a Single NAT Device
When a NAT device has multiple service boards, active and standby service boards can be configured on the NAT device for backup. The standby service board synchronizes data from the active service board so that it can take over services immediately when the active service board fails. Services are not interrupted during the switchover, and users do not know the fault. The active/standby status of the members in an HA backup group on a single NAT device is statically configured.
NE20Es implement single-device inter-board hot backup.
Inter-board hot backup enables the primary and secondary service boards to back up NAT user entries and session entries for each other. If the primary board fails, a primary/secondary service board switchover can be performed to reestablish NAT session entries, preventing NAT service interruptions.
