Assembling the Straight BNC Male Connector with the Coaxial Cable

This section describes how to assemble the straight BNC male connector with the coaxial cable.

Tools, Equipment and Materials

Coaxial cable, whose components is shown in Figure 4-15.

Procedure

  1. Strip off the sleeve of the coaxial cable according to the coaxial cable materials and sizes shown in Figure 4-16. The external conductor, insulation and internal conductor should be exposed as shown in Figure 4-16. Table 4-5 lists the recommended length of the reserved external conductor (L1), reserved insulation (L2) and stripped sleeve (L3).

    • When stripping off the sleeve of the coaxial cable, do not scratch the external conductor.
    • You can also determine the stripping size according to the size of the connector. Refer to Figure 4-17.

  2. Successively lead the heat shrink tube and crimping sleeve through the coaxial cable, as shown in Figure 4-18.

  3. Unfold the external conductor of the coaxial cable to a trumpet shape, as shown in Figure 4-19.

  4. Insert the insulation and internal conductor into the connector plug of the coaxial cable. The external conductor of the coaxial cable partly wraps the external conductor of the connector, as shown in Figure 4-20.

  5. Use a welding tool to weld the internal conductor of the coaxial cable with the internal conductor of the coaxial cable connector, as shown in Figure 4-21.

  6. Push the crimping sleeve toward the connector. Crimp the external conductor of the coaxial cable tight. Use a crimping tool to tighten the crimping sleeve and coaxial cable connector, as shown in Figure 4-22.

  7. Use a heat gun to blow the heat shrink tube so that the tube can tightly clad the crimping sleeve, as shown in Figure 4-23. In this way, the straight BNC male connector is assembled with the coaxial cable.
