Environmental Requirements for the Installation Site


To maintain normal performance and prolong the lifespan of devices, the installation site must meet the following requirements.

The device should be installed in a standard equipment room but not a utility room, corridor, or residential building.


  • The equipment room is clean, dry, and dust-free.
  • Doors and windows are in good conditions.
  • Cable holes are protected from rodents and dust.

Temperature and Humidity

  • Keep the air intake and exhaust vents of a device away from those of another device.
  • The operating temperature of a device ranges from –5°C to 50°C. Maintaining the temperature at the air intake vent at 25°C is recommended.
  • If the equipment room has no or not enough central air-conditioners, increasing air conditioners is recommended. Install a delay timer on each air conditioner to avoid turning on the air conditioner manually after the air conditioner is powered on after being powered off.
  • Air conditioners should be installed 3 meters away from the device, or with the vent facing one side of the device, to avoid blowing cold air directly on the device.
  • Do not install the device in humid locations and the ambient humidity should be maintained at 5% RH to 85% RH, non-condensing. If cables are laid out in the damp environment, design waterproof rings on cables before inserting the cables to the device or network box to prevent water from entering the device along the cables.
  • The lowest point of the water-proof rings must be 10 cm to 20 cm lower than the cable connector or cable holes of the network box.

    Common power cable

    In most cases, the bending radius of a cable should be greater than or equal to twice the cable diameter. If the cable is to be connected to a connector, the bending radius of the cable should be greater than or equal to five times the cable diameter.

    Optical fiber

    The bending radius of an optical fiber should be greater than or equal to 40 mm. The bending angle should be greater than 90°.

Noise Control

According to EC, OSHA, and GBZ, noise level at a workplace should be lower than or equal to 85 dBA. If the noise level is above 85 dBA, hearing protection must be provided. Huawei devices are NEBS compliant in noise. The noise is lower than 78 dBA when the temperature is lower than 25°C. The following table lists the noise control requirements for noise-sensitive areas.
