Configuring Route Iteration to VPN Remote Cross Routes

Configuring Route Iteration to VPN Remote Cross Routes

After route iteration to VPN remote cross routes is enabled, the route can inherit the label and tunnel ID of the cross route. Then, the device can forward data through the tunnel to which the route is iterated.

Usage Scenario

A route needs to be iterated if its next hop is indirect. To enable the route to be iterated to a cross route on the remote VPN, run the ip route recursive-lookup bgp-vpnv4-route enable command. If a route is iterated to a cross route on the remote VPN, the route can inherit the label and tunnel ID of the cross route. Then, the device can forward data through the tunnel to which the route is iterated.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring route iteration to VPN remote cross routes, configure basic BGP/MPLS IP VPN.

Procedure

  • Configure iteration of static routes to VPN remote cross routes.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run ip route recursive-lookup bgp-vpnv4-route { enable | disable }

      Iteration of static routes to VPN remote cross routes is enabled or disabled.

      By default, static routes can be iterated to VPN remote cross routes.

      To prevent traffic forwarding path inconsistency in some upgrade scenarios, iteration of static routes to VPN remote cross routes needs to be disabled using the ip route recursive-lookup bgp-vpnv4-route disable command.

    3. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Configure iteration of all routes to VPN remote cross routes.

Checking the Configurations

Run the display current-configuration command in the system view to check whether route iteration to VPN remote cross routes is enabled.
