Configuring Primary and Secondary Static PWs

In static pseudo wire (PW) fast reroute (FRR) scenarios, the primary and secondary PWs must both be configured, so that traffic can be switched to the secondary PW if a fault occurs on the primary PW.

Procedure

  • Configure a primary static PW and a secondary static PW on a PE.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run mpls l2vpn

      MPLS L2VPN is enabled.

    3. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    4. (Optional) Configuring a PW template.

      1. Run pw-template pw-template-name

        A PW template is created, and the PW template view is displayed.

      2. Perform one or more of the following configurations as required to configure PW attributes:
        • Run peer-address ip-address

          A peer IP address is specified.

        • Run control-word

          The control word function is enabled.

        • Run tnl-policy policy-name

          A tunnel policy is specified.

        • Run mtu mtu-value

          A maximum transmission unit (MTU) is specified.

        • Run jitter-buffer depth depth

          The jitter buffer depth for time division multiplexing over packet switched network (TDMoPSN) is specified.

        • Run rtp-header

          The Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) header to be carried in transparently transmitted time division multiplexing (TDM) packets is configured.

        • Run tdm-encapsulation-number number

          The number of TDM frames to be encapsulated in a Circuit Emulation Services over Packet Switch Network (CESoPSN) packet for TDMoPSN is configured.

        • Run bfd-detect [ detect-multiplier multiplier | min-rx-interval rx-interval | min-tx-interval tx-interval ] *

          BFD detection parameters are configured.

      3. Run quit

        Return to the system view.

    5. Run interface interface-type interface-number [ .subinterface-number ]

      The AC interface view is displayed.

    6. Configure a primary static PW.

      Run either of the following commands:
      • To configure a primary static PW on an Ethernet interface, run the mpls static-l2vc { { destination ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name vc-id } * | destination ip-address [ vc-id ] } transmit-vpn-label transmit-label-value receive-vpn-label receive-label-value [ tunnel-policy tnl-policy-name | access-port | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | [ raw | tagged ] ] * command.

      • To configure a primary static PW on a TDM interface, run the mpls static-l2vc { { destination ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name vc-id } * | destination ip-address [ vc-id ] } transmit-vpn-label transmit-label-value receive-vpn-label receive-label-value [ tunnel-policy tnl-policy-name | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | jitter-buffer depth | tdm-encapsulation number | tdm-sequence-number | rtp-header ] * command.

    7. Configure a secondary static PW.

      Run either of the following commands:
      • To configure a secondary static PW on an Ethernet interface, run the mpls static-l2vc { { destination ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name vc-id } * | destination ip-address [ vc-id ] } transmit-vpn-label transmit-label-value receive-vpn-label receive-label-value [ tunnel-policy tnl-policy-name | access-port | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | [ raw | tagged ] ] * secondary command.

      • To configure a secondary static PW on a TDM interface, run the mpls static-l2vc { { destination ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name vc-id } * | destination ip-address [ vc-id ] } transmit-vpn-label transmit-label-value receive-vpn-label receive-label-value [ tunnel-policy tnl-policy-name | [ control-word | no-control-word] | jitter-buffer depth | tdm-encapsulation number | tdm-sequence-number | rtp-header ] * secondary command.

    8. Run mpls l2vpn stream-dual-receiving

      Packet receiving is enabled for both the primary and secondary static PWs.

      In static PW FRR scenarios, if you do not perform this configuration, severe packet loss or service interruption may occur after a traffic switchover.

    9. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    10. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Configure PW switching on an SPE.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run mpls l2vpn

      MPLS L2VPN is enabled.

    3. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    4. Run mpls switch-l2vc [ instance-name instance-name ] ip-address vc-id trans trans-label recv received-label [ tunnel-policy policy-name ] between ip-address vc-id trans trans-label recv received-label [ tunnel-policy policy-name ] encapsulation encapsulation-type [ control-word | no-control-word ]

      PW switching is configured.

    5. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.
