(Optional) Configuring a VSI to Ignore the AC Status

(Optional) Configuring a VSI to Ignore the AC Status

If the services running on the old network need to switch to the new network, you can configure a VSI to ignore the AC status.

Context

Figure 9-3 Configuring a VSI to ignore the AC status

On the network shown in Figure 9-3, if the services running on the old network need to switch to the new network, and you want to check whether the VSI on the new network can work properly before the service switchover, configure the VSI to ignore the AC status on DeviceD'. After completing the configurations, the VSI on DeviceD' keeps Up before the digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) is connected to the new network.

The AC status can be:

  • Status of a physical or logical AC interface that is bound to the VSI
  • UPE PW status in a VPWS accessing VPLS scenario

If an AC interface is Down and the PW is Up, the VSI remains Up after being enabled to ignore the AC status. If an AC interface is Up and the PW is Down, the VSI also remains Up after being enabled to ignore the AC status.

Perform the following steps on the PE (DeviceD' in Figure 9-3):

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is display

  2. Run mpls l2vpn

The MPLS L2VPN view is display

  3. Run either of the following commands:
    • To prevent the status of all the VSIs from being affected by the status of the AC, run the mpls l2vpn and vpls ignore-ac-state commands.

    • To prevent the status of one VSI from being affected by the status of the AC, run the vsi vsi-name [ static ] and ignore-ac-state commands.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Follow-up Procedure

The vpls ignore-ac-state or ignore-ac-state command is used only before the service switchover between a new VPLS network and an old one. After the service switchover, run the undo vpls ignore-ac-state or undo ignore-ac-state command to restore the default setting.
