(Optional) Configuring a Huawei Device to Communicate with a Non-Huawei Device

(Optional) Configuring a Huawei Device to Communicate with a Non-Huawei Device

Context

To enable a Huawei device to communicate with a non-Huawei device, configure the Huawei device to use encapsulation type 19 defined in relevant standards for outgoing BGP VPLS packets and skip the VSI MTU check.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vsi vsi-name

    The VSI view is displayed.

  3. Run pwsignal bgp

    The VSI-BGP view is displayed.

  4. Run encapsulation rfc4761-compatible

By default, a Huawei device uses encapsulation type 4 or 5 for BGP VPLS packets, depending on whether the user access mode is VLAN or Ethernet.

The device is configured to use encapsulation type 19 defined in relevant standards for outgoing BGP VPLS packets.

By default, a Huawei device uses encapsulation type 4 or 5 for BGP VPLS packets, depending on whether the user access mode is VLAN or Ethernet.

After the encapsulation rfc4761-compatible command is configured, a Huawei device converts encapsulation type 4 or 5 to encapsulation type 19 before sending BGP VPLS packets. After a Huawei device receives BGP VPLS packets from a non-Huawei device, the Huawei device converts encapsulation type 19 to encapsulation type 4 or 5, depending on whether the user access mode is VLAN or Ethernet. This conversion is automatically performed and does not require special configuration.

  5. Run mtu-negotiate disable

The VSI MTU check is disabled.

By default, a Huawei device uses encapsulation type 4 or 5 for BGP VPLS packets, depending on whether the user access mode is VLAN or Ethernet.

The device is configured to use encapsulation type 19 defined in relevant standards for outgoing BGP VPLS packets.

If the MTUs for the same VSI on two PEs are different, the two PEs cannot exchange information or establish a connection.

To enable a Huawei device to communicate with non-Huawei devices that do not support the VSI MTU check on a BGP VPLS network, run the mtu-negotiate disable command to disable the VSI MTU check on the Huawei device.

  6. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
