Configuring a VPWS PW

Configuring a VPWS PW

This section describes how to establish a point-to-point VPWS PW for two PEs to communicate.

Context

LDP VPWS includes the following types:

  • Martini VPWS: cannot use Notification messages to advertise or negotiate the PW status and does not carry the status field in Label Mapping messages.
  • Pseudo-wire emulation edge to edge (PWE3) VPWS: uses Notification messages to advertise and negotiate the PW status. By default, a system uses PWE3.

Perform the following steps on the PEs at both ends of a PW to be established.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run mpls l2vpn

    MPLS L2VPN is enabled.

  3. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn no-request-message peer ip-address

The function to send L2VPN Label Request packets to remote peers is disabled.

  4. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn auto-create-session

The function to automatically establish a remote LDP session is enabled.

  5. Run quit

    Return to the system view.

  6. Run interface interface-type interface-number [ .subinterface-number ]

The AC interface view is displayed.

  7. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn description description-text

An L2VPN description is configured for the AC interface.

  8. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn pw performance disable

PW performance statistics collection is disabled.

  9. Run either of the following commands:

    • To establish a VPWS PW using Ethernet interfaces, run:

      mpls l2vc { ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name } * vc-id [ tunnel-policy policy-name | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | [ raw | tagged ] | access-port | ignore-standby-state ] *
    • To establish a VPWS PW using ATM interfaces, run:

      mpls l2vc { ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name } * vc-id [ tunnel-policy policy-name | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | [ max-atm-cells cells-value ] | [ atm-pack-overtime time ] | ignore-standby-state ] *
    • To establish a VPWS PW using TDM interfaces, run:

      mpls l2vc { ip-address | pw-template pw-template-name } * vc-id [ | tunnel-policy policy-name | [ control-word | no-control-word ] | [ jitter-buffer depth ] | [ tdm-encapsulation number ] | [ tdm-sequence-number ] | [ idle-code idle-code-value ] | rtp-header | ignore-standby-state ] *
    NOTE:
    • The VC IDs of VCs with the same encapsulation type must be unique on a PE.

    • The raw, tagged, and access-port parameters can be configured in this command only when this command is applied to Ethernet links. The access-port parameter applies only to Ethernet main interfaces.

    • If an interface is an Ethernet sub-interface, run the vlan-type dot1q vlan-id command in the interface view to configure the encapsulation type and VLAN ID of the Ethernet sub-interface.

    • The default tunnel policy uses LDP tunnels for VPWS PWs. If you want to use other types of tunnels for a VPWS PW, configure the tunnel-policy policy-name parameter for a VPWS PW to reference the specified tunnel policy.

  10. (Optional) Run undo interface-parameter-type vccv

The virtual circuit connectivity verification (VCCV) byte (an interface parameter) is deleted from the Label Mapping packet.

If LDP VPWS is configured for a device running VRP V800R005 or later to communicate with devices running VRP V300R001 or branch versions, configure this command.

  11. (Optional) Run mpls l2vpn service-name service-name

The L2VPN service name is specified. Then, you can use an NMS to maintain the L2VPN service based on the service name.

  12. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
