An device uses Ethernet interfaces to input or output NM signals.

The ETH/OAM management interface, integrating the Ethernet NM interface and console interface, uses the RJ-45 connector. Table 6-8 lists the functions of connector pins.

Management Network Interface Cables

An ETH/OAM interface that functions as an Ethernet NM interface uses Ethernet cables to ensure communication between an device and the NMS.

The ETH/OAM interface can connect to straight-through and crossover cables in autosensing mode. Ethernet Cables shows Ethernet cables.

Console Cables

For devices with ETH/OAM interface, there is no independent CONSOLE interface on the panel(Except NE08E-S9). For An ETH/OAM interface that functions as the Console interface uses Console cables to ensure communication between an device and the NMS. As Table 6-5 and Table 6-6 shown, there are differences between ETH/OAM interface and standard CONSOLE interface, thus a Console cable consists of a RS-232 serial cable and a serial adapter cable, as shown in Figure 6-6.For NE08E-S9, whose main control board has independent CONSOLE interface, thus the serial cable can directly connect with CONSOLE interface.
