Collecting Operating System Logs

Collecting Operating System Logs

You can use the OMU to collect operating system logs. If you have used the VTS tool to collect fault information, skip this topic.

Principles

Operating system logs refer to the logs generated by the operating system when each VM is running. Collecting operating system logs helps learn any abnormality of the system bottom layer and find the fault cause.

Operating system logs are classified into server VM operating system logs and service VM operating system logs. Server VM operating system logs are saved on the server VM, and service VM operating system logs are saved on the OMU. Choose an appropriate method of collecting operating system logs to suit your situation.

Procedure

  • Collect operating system logs stored on the server VM.
    1. Log in to the HUAWEI Operation & Maintenance System.
    2. Follow the instructions provided in the following figure to download the operating system logs stored on the server VM.

  • Collect operating system logs stored on the service VM.
    1. Log in to the HUAWEI Operation & Maintenance System.
    2. Follow the instructions provided in the following figure to download the operating system logs stored on the service VM.
