Collecting Traced Messages

Collecting Traced Messages

You can use the OMU to trace messages for the CGP and USM.

Principles

Tracing messages of users who experience a fault effectively improve the fault location efficiency. Collect such messages whenever possible.

Collect the messages traced for users who experience a fault when the following conditions are met. Otherwise, do not collect the messages traced for users who experience a fault.

  • The customer or Huawei technical engineers are familiar with the procedure for creating message trace tasks.
  • A message trace task has been created for users who experience the fault or the fault can be reproduced by performing dialing tests.

This function is used to quickly locate and rectify faults. Traced messages may contain some personal data of users. You are advised to comply with the local laws and regulations and take sufficient measures to ensure that personal data is fully protected. For example, you should delete the directories for storing trace records after they are used.

Table 3-2 describes the principles for collecting messages traced on each NE.

Cause Analysis

Principles

The fault cause cannot be determined.

  • Preferentially collect the user interface messages traced on the corresponding S-CSCF.
  • If the user interface messages cannot be traced, collect the SIP interface messages traced on the corresponding S-CSCF.

A registration fault may occur.

  • Preferentially collect the user interface messages traced on the corresponding S-CSCF and P-CSCF.
  • If the user interface messages cannot be traced, collect the SIP interface messages traced on the corresponding S-CSCF and P-CSCF.

Interworking with the peer NE may encounter an error.

  • Preferentially collect the user interface messages traced on the corresponding S-CSCF, P-CSCF, and MGCF.
  • If the user interface messages cannot be traced, collect the SIP interface messages traced on the corresponding S-CSCF, P-CSCF, and MGCF.

An error may occur in provisioning services.

  • Preferentially collect the user interface messages traced on the corresponding SPG, CSCF, USM, and HSS.
  • If the user interface messages cannot be traced, collect the SIP interface messages traced on the corresponding SPG, CSCF, USM, and HSS.
  • On the OMU client, create a task for tracing service provisioning command messages. For details, see Provision Command Message Trace.

Media communication (for example, voice call) fails on a large scale.

Collect the messages traced on the SBC or MGW.

Procedure
