Web User Management

On the VP9600 series MCU, web accounts are classified into three levels: system administrator, conference administrator, and conference operator.

  • System administrator: has all rights.

    System administrators can add, modify, and delete users who have lower rights. The admin system administrator can modify information about other system administrators, but the other system administrators cannot modify information about the admin system administrator.

  • Conference administrator: have the rights to manage conferences and address book contacts.

    The conference administrator can only modify his or her own information and cannot modify information about other accounts. The administrator indicates the default system account name. The account name cannot be used as a new account name.

  • Conference operator: Conference operators have the rights to control active conferences.

    The conference operator can only modify his or her own information and cannot modify information about other accounts.

Changing the Web Account Password

  1. Open the Internet Explorer, enter the IP address of the web interface in the address box, for example, https://192.168.2.1, and press Enter.

    The login page is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-11.

    NOTE:

    If a warning is displayed indicating that there is a problem with the website's security certificate, click Continue to this website (not recommended) to continue. To solve this problem, import the security certificate after logging in to the web interface, see Replacing the VP9600 Series MCU Security Certificate(V500R002C10).

  2. Select a language, enter the user name and password, and click Log In.

    NOTE:

    The default values of User name and Password are admin and Change_Me respectively. If you enter incorrect passwords for three consecutive times, your account will be locked for five minutes by default, unless the password is empty. If you log in to the web interface using the default password, the Change Password page is displayed. Change the password as prompted. Alternatively, go to 3 to change the password.

  3. Click at the upper right corner.
  4. Change the password in the displayed Change Personal Information dialog box as shown in Figure 2-12.

    NOTE:

    The password must be eight characters to sixteen characters and contain at least two types of the following characters: digits, uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and special characters.

  5. Click OK.

Resetting User Passwords

The admin user can reset passwords of other users to default ones.

  1. Open Internet Explorer, enter the web management system IP address in the address box, for example, https://192.168.2.1, and press Enter.

    The login page shown in Figure 2-13 is displayed.

    NOTE:

    If an error occurs on the security certificate during the login, click Continue to this website (not recommended) to continue the login. After the login, you can import the security certificate to resolve the issue. For details about the import method, see Replacing the VP9600 Series MCU Security Certificate(V500R002C10).

  2. Select a language and use the admin user name and password to log in to the web page.
  3. Choose Users > All Users.
  4. Select the account whose password needs to be changed and click Edit.
    The Edit User dialog box is displayed.
  5. Select Reset Password, as shown in Figure 2-14.

  6. Click OK.
    After the setting is saved, the account password is reset to the default one.

Changing the BootRom Login Password

  1. Use the RJ45 connector of the serial cable to the RS-232 connector of the MCU main control board, and use the DB-9 connector of the serial cable to connect to the computer, and open the PuTTY tool. In the navigation tree on the left, choose Serial and set the following parameters, as shown in Figure 2-15.

    • Bits per second: 115200
    • Data bits: 8
    • Parity: None
    • Stop bits: 1

  2. Observe the serial port output, press any key when the message Press any Key to stop auto-boot... is displayed and at the Please Input Password: prompt, enter the mini system login password and press Enter.

    NOTE:

    The default password is Change_Me.

  3. At the [VxWorks Boot]: prompt, enter x and press Enter.
  4. At the Please Input Old Password: prompt, enter the current password and press Enter.
  5. At the Please Input New Password: and Please Input New Password Again: prompts, enter new password and Enter respectively.

    NOTE:

    The password must be a string of 8 to 16 characters, consisting of a combination of at least two types of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits and special characters.

  6. At the Are you sure to save new password?[Y/N]: prompt, enter y and press Enter.

Changing the Password for Logging In Using the SSH, Telnet, BootRom

The Administrator and test users can change the passwords of all the other users. Other users can change only their own passwords.

  1. Log in to the MCU from PuTTY.
  2. Two commands are available for changing the password:

    • At the<HUAWEI VP9650>

      prompt, entersystem-view telnet-config password and pressEnter.

    • At the<HUAWEI VP9650>

      prompt, entermodify-passwordand press Enter.

    The following information is displayed:

    User name: administrator
    User name{administrator,user,admin,emtest,test}:
    NOTE:

    If the user named user wants to change his/her own password, run the modify-password command.

  3. At the User name{administrator,user,admin,emtest,test} prompt, enter the account name for which you want to change the password and press Enter.
  4. Enter the old password if you want to change the password of the administrator or test user. At the old password prompt, enter the current password and press Enter.
  5. At the new password{string, min:8 max:16} prompt, enter the new password and press Enter.

    NOTE:

    When you change the password of the administrator or test user, if the current and new passwords are the same, the "Info:cancel set password! new password is the same as old." message is displayed, and you exit the view for changing the password.

  6. At the new password confirm prompt, enter the new password again and press Enter.
  7. At the <HUAWEI VP9650> prompt, enter save and press Enter.

    The following information is displayed:

    are you sure to save config?(y/n)

  8. Enter y and press Enter.
