Updating the OfficeScan Client

You can manually obtain the latest client components and virus library or enable the OfficeScan client to automatically obtain them from the OfficeScan server or from a specified update source.

To ensure proper service running, it is recommended that the OfficeScan client and virus library be updated when service traffic is low, for example, in the wee hours.

  1. Click Start. Then click on the Start page.
  2. Choose Trend Micro OfficeScan Server > Officescan Web Console (HTML) to access the OfficeScan Web Console login page.
  3. Enter the user name and the login password, and click Log on.

    The login password is set during OfficeScan server installation.

  4. Configure the update source.

    Automatic update mode

    1. Choose Updates > Agents > Update Source.

      The Agent Update Source window is displayed.

    2. Configure the update source, and click Notify All Clients.

      The message "Your settings have been notified to all clients." is displayed.

    3. Click Back.

  5. Set the update mode.

    Automatic update mode

    1. Choose Updates > Agents > Automatic Updates.

      The Agent Automatic Updates window is displayed.

    2. Set parameters in the Event-triggered Update and Schedule-based Update areas, and click Save.

      The message "The specified settings have been saved." is displayed.

      The OfficeScan client will automatically update the client components and virus library at the scheduled time.

    Manual update mode

    1. Choose Updates > Agents > Manual Update.

      The Agent Manual Update window is displayed.

    2. Set parameters in the Components to Update area, and click Initiate Update.

      The OfficeScan client starts to update the client components and virus library immediately.
